the best things i have bought so far:
-the song on sense and sensibility that kate winslet sings...the one that goes "softly, soflty lies sleeping." it's tricky but fun. the piano is easy but it's so hard to sing! it's actually called "weep you no more sad fountains." so whenever i'm home alone and in a dramatic mood, this one will come in handy.
-a piano book called "the very best of john williams." jack, who is majoring in film, wants to get better at piano and i thought it was very suitable. we're very excited.
-a charming rendition of "baby it's cold outside." jack and i are working it up to performance level and we'll sing it for anyone who wants to listen at christmas.
-a women's barbershop quartet version of "bye bye blues!" there are only three of us hawkins girls in utah to sing it, but maybe momma can join in at thanksgiving!
it's so great to be around music all the time, and talking to piano teachers and grungy teenage boys who want to play the guitars and mysterious old men who just want to play our piano and are REALLY good. and hoping someone famous like mack wilberg or janice kapp perry will come in to the store. (which does happen!)
and the next two month's allowance might go towards a grunge distortion pedal for my guitar. it's cool. or maybe if i save forever i could even get one of these:

so i guess what i'm trying to say is that i love my job, even if do have to wear a dorky red polo.
I love it! It really sounds like you have the perfect job...how awesome is that!

ReplyDeletei think you might need to record the "baby it's cold outside" performance and put it on your blog for those who never see you:)
ReplyDeleteIf I worked in a music store, I would be in debt forever! What a dream job!
