a little time off of school can make a gal feel useless... but that's why i've been keeping myself busy! we live in an old, run-down little place, but we've done a lot of good work on it. since we've moved in we've done two coats of paint on all walls and ceilings, some serious yardwork (no weeds have been pulled since 1953, i'm pretty sure), and much more. and in the next couple of weeks some very economical and adorable home decor items will be arriving in the mail. my favorite:
to go atop a crystal base from DI. i LOVE it. since we live in such an old house, i'm just going to go ahead and make it a little grandma-inspired.

there are some problems with the house that we can't fix easily - like the fact that the hose on the side of the house leaks into the kitchen when it is turned on, and the front door has to be slammed about six times before it will stay closed. but the charming little kitchen, the pantry space and laundry room, the ridiculous faucet and wallpaper in the bathroom - they make up for it.

and i'm just pretty lucky to get to live in this cute little house with my best friend in the world, even if he's not as excited about the lampshade as i am.
