4th of July in Modesto

We spent the weekend of the fourth in Modesto, like always! There was a Saturday morning pancake breakfast and parade at the church. Molly threw up first thing because she guzzled milk and orange juice while we were waiting for the pancakes. She didn't get a drop on her new dress from grandma! I got to tube down the river the Jensens, Tori, and some friends while Jack stayed and supervised naps. The water was low, there were lots of snags, and we had a popped tube calamity, but it was super fun! Mom decked out the yard with flags and tree decorations. She also outdid herself with dinner and made ribs AND pork tenderloin pineapple sandwiches. We had a swim party dinner with root beer taste testing. Nineteen kinds of root beer! And then we joined all our Indian neighbors for treats and fireworks in the frontyard. Complete with samosas/pakoras (which one is which?? I can never remember.) The traditional muddy buddies and lemon ice cream with gingersnaps were consumed. Tori also made peanut butter ice cream that was pretty amazing. Molly and Cora were super impressed by the fireworks. The highlight for me was using Alli's camera and getting the cutest sticky cheeked watermelon shot of Cora. It was a pretty magical day! My parents make life pretty darn fun.
